Youth Intervention Program

The Normal Police Department Youth Intervention Program began in August 2008 through the generous support of State Farm Insurance. It was designed to provide services to youth who are at risk of becoming involved with law enforcement or the juvenile court system. Other program objectives are to promote youth accountability for delinquent behavior and to reduce the likelihood of juvenile delinquency by obtaining needed services for youth and holding youth accountable for their behavior.

Program Goals

The main goals of the program are to address delinquent behaviors, refer youth to appropriate services and provide support to youth and families to eliminate future criminal behavior.

Parent Involvement

Parents / guardians of the youth involved are required to be active participants in their child's program. Services are free to all who choose to participate in the program and are available to those who reside in the Town of Normal or attend a Unit 5 school.

Additional Information

The youth intervention specialist often works with the juvenile detective and school resource officers.
