Located in One Normal Plaza, the Town of Normal’s Food Forest was developed in spring 2015 and includes 1.4 acres of organic produce! This partnership between the Town and the University of Illinois Extension has reaped countless rewards since that time. What is a food forest? It’s a diverse planting of edible plants that mimic the ecosystems and patterns found in nature. They also have three dimensional designs.
This community space is open to the public and any produce is free to take. If you are enjoying the Food Forest, consider volunteering your time with weeding or harvesting! All ages are welcome. You may discover new skills you never knew you had.
